5. Up until closing date, photos can be replaced/switched. Submissions
closed at 11:59PM, July 31
6. The final entries as of 12:00AM August 1 will be thoroughly reviewed by
Colin, Darrell (Sharpeshots), and Matt to determine the
semi-finalists. Submissions will be judged based on creativity,
composition, technical aspects(sharpness, exposure, etc), lighting,
and other factors. We will only eliminate photos as semi-finalists
if there is a clear segregation of superior/non-superior photos
based on the above criteria. Because of this, we are not setting a
cap on the number of photos that will advance to the semi-finalist
stage. The chosen photos at this point will go up for a vote for 7
days. At the end of the 7 day vote, the top 5 photos advance to the
final round which will be a 14 day vote to determine the winner.
7. The winning and runner-up photograph will likely be used in a NLP website
logo for a period of time as past contest winners have been. They
could also be used in a poster or promotional item for future
contests on the site, with photo credit of course.
8. Fraud of any kind when it comes to voting for the winning photograph will
not be tolerated. ex. If it becomes evident that someone is rigging
the vote by registering multiple accounts or by any activity of this
nature, that person will be permanently banned from the site and
contest.
9. We reserve the right to cancel this contest at any time, without notice
or explanation. This rule is included mainly to ensure the integrity
of the contest should something outlined in rule #8 occur.
10. Submissions are to be anonymous until the results are in. Submitting a
photograph for the contest is simple.
11. In the event of a tie in the Finalists vote, we will determine the
winner in the following manner:
- A 7 day vote-off between the top two photos will be conducted
- In the event of a tie after this additional vote, the 3 NLP staff members
will determine the winner through a vote. Whichever photo gets 2+
votes from the staff will be the winner. This method will also apply
to 2nd and 3rd place ties.
12. No watermarks of any kind are allowed on submissions. This is to ensure
anonymity among all entries.
